2021 SPRING RECITAL UPDATE

The last day of classes for this session is Friday May 7th.  Spring Recital performances will be daily, the week of May 10-13! Click here for our performance days and times.

Given the uncertainty and ever-changing conditions surrounding COVID-19, we’ve decided that we will NOT have large mass gatherings the weekend of May 14-16.

Each class will be assigned a 15-minute performance time when they can share their recital routines with their friends and family.  The number of guests permitted will be determined by May 1st depending on City Ordinances and capacity restrictions. Masks will be required for spectators according to the City Ordinance. No tickets will be required.  All routines will be livestreamed so those unable to attend may watch from other locations.  This will be similar to our June 2020 and December 2020 performance procedures.  Dancers are welcome to perform in masks if they desire.

Registration for Ms. Candace’s Summer Dance Camps is now open! All camps are from 9am-noon Monday-Friday and $150, payable to Candace Harlan. Please email cdburditt@gmail.com with any questions or to register.

Week 1, June 7 – 11: 3 & 4 year olds

Week 2, June 14 – 18: 5 year olds (Only 2 spots left!)

Week 3, June 21 – 25: 6, 7, & 8 year olds (Only 1 spot left!)

MARCH 19, 20, & 21: VIRTUAL COMPETITION SHOWCASE

Watch our award-winning Competition teams (Ensemble, Troupe, and Collective) perform virtually  on Friday, March 19th, Saturday March 20th & Sunday, March 21st! SPRING BREAK: MARCH 27- APRIL 4

CPAC will be closed Saturday, March 27 – Sunday, April 4 for Spring Break. All classes will resume the week of April 5th.

In order to celebrate our youngest dancers (Movement, Dance 1, Dance 2, Dance 3) and the holiday season, we plan to have Holiday Recital performances on our stage, one class at a time with scheduled time slots, limited spectators, and designated traffic flow the week of December 14 – 17.  Please visit the Performances page for more details.

2021 SPRING RECITAL UPDATE

At this time, we are still planning to hold Spring Recital performances May 14-16, 2021.  Given the ever-changing circumstances surrounding the coronavirus, we are postponing the ordering of and payment for Recital costumes until the end of January.  We aren’t sure exactly what our performance options may be but we will definitely find a way to celebrate everyone’s hard work!  For the safety of our staff, we will be asking parents to measure their own children and submit costume measurements to the office sometime in January.  More details to come!

Halloween Week Oct.26-30

Dancers may wear their Halloween costumes to class the week of October 26-30!  Make sure it is something you can dance in.  If your Ballet class meets twice a week, only wear your costume on Wednesday or Thursday.

2020-2021 Fall/Winter Registration Dates

Online Fall registration for CURRENT students (those enrolled for Fall 2018-Winter 2019) opens Tuesday July 28th at 10am!  It will close Wednesday July 29th at 4pm.  Only online registrations will be accepted during that time.  Thereafter, registration for Fall/Winter will be taken via email at cpac@cpac-dance.com.  Be sure to register prior to August 5th for best class availability (that is when registration opens to the general public).

NEW FACULTY

We’re excited to announce we have a new Tap teachers for the 2020-2021 session – Chris Rutledge and Alyvia Swearingen!  Check out their bios on our Faculty page.

CPAC Re-Opens June 1 – June 20

In person classes will resume per our current schedule on June 1 and continue through June 20.  Come to class each day just like you did back in March before the pause from the COVID-19 circumstances.  For those of you that do not wish to attend in person, we will continue to upload virtual content each week through June 20.  Recital costumes will likely be distributed in person during the week of June 1-5.

VIRTUAL CLASSES CONTINUE THROUGH MAY 30

Virtual classes and Recital preparations will continue through May 30th with new content and Live Zoom sessions each week.  You may access your dancer’s weekly virtual content in the Resources tab via the Parent Portal.  Feel free to access the portal via our CPAC app (available on Google Play and in the App Store) or via the website at www.cpac-dance.com.  Email us at cpac@cpac-dance.com with questions.

JUNE 22 – JUNE 25 RECITAL WEEK

June 22-25 we will have an informal ‘Recital Week’.  This will function very much like our Dress Rehearsal weeks from previous years.  Monday through Thursday, each class will have a designated 15 minute time slot on stage to perform in costume.  No tickets will be sold, no professional photos or videos will be taken.  If you normally have class on a Monday, your ‘performance’ time will be scheduled on that Monday.  If you normally have class on a Tuesday, your ‘performance’ will be scheduled on that Tuesday etc.  Friday classes will ‘perform’ on Thursday that week.  Each class will dance twice onstage in costume under the lights to celebrate their hard work this year.  The Theatre provides plenty of space for spectators to spread out as we usher in one class at a time per the schedule.   If you do NOT plan to ‘perform’ that week, please email us at cpac@cpac-dance.com no later than June 1.  This will help our teachers plan accordingly for those who do wish to perform.

MARCH 13TH & 14TH: COMPETITION SHOWCASE

Come see our award-winning Competition teams perform at the CPAC Theatre on Friday, March 13th and Saturday, March 14th! MARCH 14TH-20th: BRING A FRIEND TO DANCE WEEK!

Any student in Toddler, Movement, Dance 1, 2, 3 or Intro Levels is welcome to bring a friend to dance class that week.  Friends do not need dance experience or shoes.  They should be close in age to our dancers and should wear comfy clothes.  In class fun, a boutique coupon, and a sneak peek at recital preparations are included! If interested, please make sure to bring one friend only.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICIES

The Winter months are upon us and that brings the possibility of severe weather and cancelled classes.  We do NOT automatically cancel classes when Columbia Public Schools does.  We try to make our decisions about cancellations by 1:00pm for weekday classes.

  • We will send out EMAIL to everyone when classes are cancelled
  • To receive text message alerts regarding cancellations and closings, text CPACDANCE to 84483 for updates
  • We will also post any updates to Facebook (CPAC – Columbia Performing Arts Centre) and Instagram (Columbiaperformingartscentre)

At least one costume fee PER CHILD must be paid on or before December 1st in order to ensure your child’s participation in the May 2020 performances. Please note that hip-hop classes are not charged a costume fee because they do costumes on their own. Please login to your online account to make a payment, stop by the front desk, or call our office at 441-1818 between 3:30-9 pm Monday through Thursday. 
 
If you are declining recital participation, we must receive written notice at cpac@cpac-dance.com no later than December 1st to remove the costume fees charged. 

THANKSGIVING BREAK: NOVEMBER 26-30

CPAC will be closed Tuesday, November 26 – Saturday, November 30th for Thanksgiving break. Please note that classes ARE in session on Monday, November 25th as a make up for Labor Day. 

TODDLER REGISTRATION- WINTER SESSION

Registration for NEW students interested in the Toddlers class is now open! For students wanting to enroll in the January – May 2020 session, please fill out the online registration form here. A $50 deposit is required at the time of registration to secure your enrollment. Returning Toddler students MUST register again for the Winter semester! Returning students may register via the parent portal of our website.  We currently have openings in Tuesdays at 11:45 a.m. and Saturdays at 10am or 10:30am with a maximum of 10 students per class. Each class meets 1 time per week and is 30 minutes in length. The 16 week session begins the week of January 6th and concludes May 9th. Tuition is $145 for the session. Those who pay their tuition in full by January 13th will receive a 20% discount! Email us at cpac@cpac-dance.com for more information. 

HOLIDAY RECITALS

In order to celebrate our youngest dancers and the holiday season, we will be having our Holiday Recitals in December for our Movement for Children, Dance I, Dance II, and Dance III classes (Toddler classes do NOT perform).
 
Dancers will be receiving their holiday costumes to take home this week, as well as a note from their teacher with details regarding hair and costume pieces, in-class dress rehearsal, and their performance. These notes will also be e-mailed out to each class.
 
In-Class Dress Rehearsal: December 2nd-6th  Please have your child dressed in their costume for dance class that week. This is simply another time for dancers to get to wear their costumes and practice on stage.
 
Holiday Shows: December 9th-12th
  • We will have four “shows” the week of December 9th-12th.
  • Your dancer will NOT have their regular class that week if they are performing in the Holiday show.
  • The performance takes the place of your final class for the semester. 
  • Teachers will provide more information regarding holiday costumes in November. 
  • Holiday costume fees typically range from $20-$30 depending on teacher selections. 
  • Your dancer will perform the same night of the week that they usually have class EXCEPT Friday classes will perform in the Thursday, December 12th show.
  • Shows will begin at 6pm each evening and should last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. 
  • Dancers will arrive at 5:45 pm. 
  • No tickets will be necessary. 
  • You may bring your video cameras and regular cameras. 
  • No professional video will be available for purchase.

HALLOWEEN

Dancers may wear their Halloween costumes to class the week of October 28th!  Just make sure it is something they can dance in.  IF your ballet class meets twice a week on Monday/Wednesday, only wear your costume on Wednesday (regular attire on Monday).  IF your ballet class meets twice a week on Tuesday/Thursday, only wear your costume on Thursday (regular attire on Tuesday). Friday and Saturday classes should wear costumes on October 25th-26th.

TODDLER REGISTRATION- WINTER SESSION

Registration for NEW students interested in the Toddlers class will be available beginning Monday, November 11th at noon! For students wanting to enroll in the January – May 2020 session, there will be a registration link on the Schedule page of our website. A $50 deposit is required at the time of registration to secure your enrollment. 

Returning Toddler students MUST register again for the Winter semester! Returning students may register beginning Tuesday, November 5th at noon. Registration will be via the parent portal of our website. Please make sure your login and password work, and send any issues to cpac@cpac-dance.com. A $50 deposit is required at the time of registration to secure your enrollment. 

Classes are available on Tuesdays at 11:45 a.m. or 5:15 p.m., Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m., and Saturdays at 10am or 10:30am with a maximum of 10 students per class. Each class meets 1 time per week and is 30 minutes in length. The 16 week session begins the week of January 6th and concludes May 9th. Tuition is $145 for the session. Those who pay their tuition in full by January 13th will receive a 20% discount! Email us at cpac@cpac-dance.com for more information. 

HOLIDAY RECITALS

In order to celebrate our youngest dancers and the holiday season, we will be having our Holiday Recitals in December for our Movement for Children, Dance I, Dance II, and Dance III classes. Please visit our Holiday Recital page for more details. (Toddler classes do NOT perform.)

  • We will have four “shows” the week of December 9th-12th.
  • Your dancer will NOT have their regular class that week if they are performing in the Holiday show.
  • The performance takes the place of your final class for the semester. 
  • Teachers will provide more information regarding holiday costumes in November. 
  • Holiday costume fees typically range from $15-$30 depending on teacher selections. 
  • Your dancer will perform the same night of the week that they usually have class EXCEPT Friday classes will perform in the Thursday, December 12th show.
  • Shows will begin at 6pm each evening and should last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. 
  • Dancers will arrive at 5:45 pm. 
  • No tickets will be necessary. 
  • You may bring your video cameras and regular cameras. 
  • No professional video will be available for purchase. 

MONTHLY FINANCE CHARGES

Any tuition balances remaining will incur a 10% monthly finance charge until the tuition fees are paid in full. All account balances must be paid in full by April 1st.
