2015 Nutcracker Announcement

CPAC is excited to continue and expand upon this year’s Nutcracker excerpts!

We are proud to announce that we will be presenting Act II of The Nutcracker in two special performances in the CPAC Theatre on December 11 & 12, 2015! Shows will be approximately 1 hour in length and ticket proceeds will be donated to local charities.

Be a part of this incredible, traditional ballet experience by auditioning August 29th!  Mark your calendars!

Performance roles available for boys and girls ages 6 -18!

Participation Requirements

  • Must be registered in a CPAC ballet class for Fall/Winter 2015-2016
  • All dancers will perform in BOTH shows
  • $100 fee plus costume
  • Costume fees are $55 for child and $70 for adult sizes
  • Rehearsals to be determined on select Fridays/Saturdays in the Fall

2015 Spring Recital Announcement

All Classes will perform the weekend of May 15th, 16th, and 17th.  We are having 4 amazing shows (Friday 7pm, Saturday 2pm, Saturday 7pm, Sunday 2pm) incorporating all levels and styles of dance.  Please visit our Recital page for the listing of which classes perform in which show.  Each show is different.

Beginning Monday April 6th, families will be able to purchase 4 tickets per family for each day they perform.  Tickets are $10 each and 100% of the proceeds go to local charities.

Tickets will be on sale to the general public on Monday May 4th in the MAIN building.  We WILL sell out of most shows.  Please get your tickets early to avoid missing out on your child’s performance.

Dress rehearsals will be Monday May 11th through Thursday May 14th.  Schedules available in April.

MiniTroop & Troupe Parent Info Meeting March 6th

There will be an information meeting available for parents on Friday March 6th in the East Lobby at CPAC from 5:30-6:15pm.  Doors open at 5:15pm.  Come meet our Competition Director Jen Lee and learn more about these competitive programs for dancers aged 4-12.

MiniTroop Auditions (April 7th) & Troupe Auditions (April 22nd)

These programs are designed to prepare dancers for the Competitive Ensemble Group at CPAC.  Any dancer age 13 or older who is not on the Ensemble is ineligible to participate in Troupe.  ALL dancers ages 4 – 12 must audition each year for Troupe or Mini Troop consideration.  Non-CPAC students who are interested are MORE than welcome to audition!!!

Tuesday April 7th:  Mini Troop (Ages 4 – 6)

6pm – 7pm (Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes)

Registration deadline is April 6, 2015

Wednesday April 22nd:  Troupe (Ages 7 – 12)

4:15pm – 5:00pm Tap (comfortable dance clothes, tap shoes)

5:00-6:30pm Jazz (comfortable dance clothes, no shoes)

Registration deadline is April 20, 2015

Observation Week March 9-12

Parents are welcome to observe all classes the week of March 9-12.  Instructors will open all curtains for viewing in Studios 1, 2, and 3.  For those who have class upstairs in Studio 4, as well as downstairs in Studios 5 and 6, you are welcome to sit quietly inside the classroom and observe.  Competition classes in studios 7 & 8 will be displayed on the East Lobby monitors for parents to observe.

Competition Showcase! February 6 & 7!

Come see our award-winning Competition teams perform at the newly renovated CPAC Theatre on Friday February 6th and Saturday February 7th!  All styles and ages will perform each night.  Both shows begin at 6pm and tickets are on sale beginning January 19th.  Don’t miss these amazing evenings of dance.  Current CPAC students receive a FREE ticket!  Inquire at either front desk location.

Inclement Weather Policy

The Winter months are upon us and that brings the possibility of severe weather and cancelled classes.  We do NOT automatically cancel classes when Columbia Public Schools does.  We try to make our decisions about cancellations by 1:00pm.  We will notify local TV and radio stations when cancellations occur.  We will also send out EMAIL to everyone when classes are cancelled.  Make sure we have your email on file so that you don’t miss any important information.  To receive text message alerts regarding cancellations and closings, text CPACDANCE to 84483 for updates.

Weekly Attendance for Performing Classes

Students who acquire more than 3 absences (per class) from January 26th through May 7th may not be allowed to participate in the Spring Performances.

Holiday Recitals December 8-11

In order to celebrate our youngest dancers and the holiday season, we will be having our Holiday Recital December 8-11 for our Movement for Children, Dance I, Dance II, and Dance III classes.  Please visit our Holiday Recital page for more details.

  • We will have four “shows” during the week of December 8-11.
  • Your dancer will NOT have their regular class that week if they are performing in the Holiday show.
  • Shows will begin at 6pm each evening and should last approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
  • Dancers will arrive at 5:45pm.
  • No tickets will be necessary although we do request that you consider bringing a donation for the Central Missouri Humane Society.
  • You may bring your video cameras and regular cameras.
  • No professional video will be available for purchase.
  • We are thrilled to present excerpts from “The Nutcracker” featuring over 40 of our older students as the opening routine of each performance.
